What's Happening?
Beeline Uzbekistan, owned by Veon, has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with DataVolt to advance Uzbekistan's digital infrastructure. The first MoU establishes Beeline Uzbekistan as a major tenant at DataVolt's TAS-1 data center in Tashkent
IT Park, providing significant data center capacity to support its digital services expansion. The second MoU outlines a framework for potentially developing a new data center in Bukhara. These initiatives aim to improve digital infrastructure availability, enhance cloud and AI service access, and strengthen data localization capabilities, aligning with Uzbekistan's Digital Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy.
Why It's Important?
This partnership is crucial for Uzbekistan's digital transformation, positioning the country as a digital hub in Central Asia. By expanding data center capacity, Beeline Uzbekistan can enhance its service offerings, supporting local data processing and innovation. This aligns with global trends towards increased data localization and digital sovereignty. The collaboration also supports the Uzbek government's strategic goals, potentially attracting more tech investments and fostering economic growth. The development of robust digital infrastructure is essential for modern economies, impacting sectors like telecommunications, finance, and public services.
