TeraWulf, a company transitioning from Bitcoin mining to AI data center development, has announced a significant 20-year lease agreement with Anthropic, a leading AI firm. This lease involves the establishment of a new AI data center in Hawesville, Kentucky,
on a site previously occupied by Century Aluminum's smelter. The project is expected to generate approximately $19 billion in revenue over the lease term. The data center will be developed in phases, with an initial power capacity to support 400 megawatts of AI computing equipment. The facility is anticipated to begin operations in the second half of 2027, reaching full capacity by early 2028. TeraWulf's CEO, Paul Prager, emphasized that this agreement validates the company's strategy and provides a framework for future expansion.
