Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched a new cloud service, the AWS Secret Cloud for Industry (ASCI), designed to handle contractor-owned classified workloads. This initiative aims to streamline the process for U.S. defense contractors and research institutions
by reducing the time required to provision classified environments from months to days. The ASCI holds a provisional authorization at Impact Level 6, suitable for Secret-classified information, and is part of AWS's broader strategy to support the defense industrial base. Northrop Grumman is the first contractor to utilize this service, which is expected to significantly enhance the speed and efficiency of developing sensitive programs.
