What's Happening?
Zac and Meghan Crow have launched a new self-pour franchise, Tapster, in Denver's LoHi neighborhood. The establishment, located at 3200 Tejon St., features 54 taps, with three-quarters dedicated to local brews. The venue also offers seltzers, ciders,
cocktails, hard liquor, and nonalcoholic drinks. Customers use a Tapster-branded card to pour drinks, which are priced by the ounce. The Crows, both Colorado natives and Colorado State University alumni, have customized the space with local elements, including Aspen wood and murals by a local artist. The couple signed a 10-year lease and invested $500,000 in construction and permitting. Tapster aims to provide a social space with a unique, customizable franchise model.
Why It's Important?
The opening of Tapster in Denver reflects a growing trend in the hospitality industry towards self-service models, which can reduce labor costs and increase customer engagement. This business model allows patrons to explore a wide variety of beverages at their own pace, potentially attracting a diverse clientele. The focus on local brews and customization aligns with consumer preferences for unique and locally-sourced products. The success of Tapster could influence other businesses to adopt similar models, impacting the local economy by supporting local breweries and artists. Additionally, the franchise's emphasis on technology to minimize waste and theft could set a precedent for operational efficiency in the industry.
