Muon Space, a California-based small satellite specialist, has successfully raised $250 million in a Series C funding round, bringing its total equity funding to over $386 million. This capital injection is earmarked for expanding the company's capabilities
into larger, more powerful spacecraft and constellations. The company's new facility in San Jose, California, is designed to significantly ramp up production, aiming for an annual output of up to 500 satellites by 2027. Muon Space currently controls 95% of its spacecraft production in-house through its 'Mission Foundry' model, which integrates mission design, spacecraft, payloads, software, operations, and data. The company has already deployed 11 satellites, including three this year for a wildfire-monitoring system, and has over 50 satellites in development for various customers, including U.S. government entities. Next year, Muon Space plans to deploy its first 500-kilogram MuSat XL spacecraft for Hubble Network, and in June, it unveiled an even larger 'Starship-class' platform called Condor-Ultra, with a planned debut in 2028.
