The Arcadia Dunes: The C.S. Mott Nature Preserve is hosting its annual Dune Wildflower Hike at the Old Baldy Trailhead. This event, led by volunteer Paula Dreeszen, offers participants a chance to explore native dune plants while enjoying panoramic views
of Lake Michigan. The hike covers a 2.5-mile trail with a gradual elevation change, including a steep climb to Old Baldy, a popular perched dune. Participants can expect to see a variety of wildflowers such as Wood Lily, Pitcher’s Thistle, and Common Milkweed, which is crucial for monarch caterpillars. The event requires registration, and participants are advised to bring sturdy shoes, a camera, water, and snacks, and to dress appropriately for the weather.
