Leapmotor, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has expanded its operations in Southeast Asia by establishing a knock-down (KD) assembly plant in Indonesia. This move, in collaboration with Indonesia's Indomobil Group, allows Leapmotor to avoid high
tariffs on fully imported vehicles and qualify for government incentives. The plant, which began operations in April, will start delivering locally assembled B10 and C10 models in August. Leapmotor's strategy includes adopting the Stellantis Brand House model for sales, alongside brands like Jeep and Citroën, and plans to establish 50 sales and service outlets in Indonesia by the end of 2026. This expansion is part of Leapmotor's broader strategy to increase its global footprint, with a target of delivering 1 million vehicles in 2026.
