What's Happening?
LabGenius Therapeutics, a drug discovery company, has entered into a multi-year research collaboration with LG Chem. The partnership aims to develop next-generation multispecific antibodies using LabGenius's AI and machine learning-driven platform, EVA™.
These antibodies are designed to address the limitations of current immunotherapies, such as on-target, off-tumor toxicities. The collaboration will focus on creating a tumor-selective therapeutic targeting a solid tumor antigen found in various difficult-to-treat cancers. LabGenius will receive an undisclosed upfront payment and potential milestone payments, while LG Chem will fund all research and development activities.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration is significant as it leverages advanced technologies like AI and machine learning to potentially revolutionize cancer treatment. By developing more effective and safer immunotherapies, the partnership could improve outcomes for patients with solid tumors, addressing a high unmet medical need. The use of AI in drug discovery represents a growing trend in the pharmaceutical industry, promising faster and more efficient development of new treatments. This could lead to significant advancements in oncology, benefiting both companies and patients globally.
What's Next?
LabGenius will conduct preclinical research, including in vitro efficacy studies, after which LG Chem will perform further pre-clinical development work. LG Chem has the option to in-license the asset for further development. The success of this collaboration could pave the way for future partnerships and innovations in the field of AI-driven drug discovery, potentially setting new standards in the development of cancer therapies.
