What's Happening?
Brookfield and NextEra Energy have announced plans to develop a $100 billion AI data center campus at the U.S. Department of Energy's Paducah Site in Kentucky. The project, known as the Paducah American Energy Hub, will include up to 4.6 GW of dedicated
power generation, comprising natural gas and battery energy storage systems. The development is expected to create approximately 8,000 construction jobs and 600 full-time operations jobs. The site, previously used for uranium enrichment, will be transformed into a hub for energy and innovation, leveraging existing infrastructure and federal land.
