What's Happening?
Hali Mo, a former McKinsey consultant, left her corporate career to pursue her passion for baking, founding Hali Home Bakes, a microbakery in San Francisco. After five years in corporate roles, Mo realized she was unfulfilled and decided to take a year off
to explore what made her happy. This led her to attend pastry school in Paris, which reignited her love for baking. Upon returning to the U.S., she started her microbakery from her apartment, gradually building a customer base through social media and word of mouth. Despite the challenges of starting over in a new city and the financial uncertainties of running a small business, Mo has found joy and fulfillment in her new career.
Why It's Important?
Mo's story highlights a growing trend of professionals leaving traditional corporate careers to pursue entrepreneurial ventures that align with their passions. This shift reflects a broader societal movement towards valuing personal fulfillment and work-life balance over conventional career success. Mo's journey also underscores the potential of social media as a powerful tool for small business growth, allowing entrepreneurs to reach and engage with a wider audience. Her experience may inspire others to reconsider their career paths and explore opportunities that bring them genuine satisfaction.
