Knott's Berry Farm has officially reopened its iconic roller coaster, Montezooma's Revenge, as MonteZOOMa: The Forbidden Fortress, following a four-year closure. The ride, which originally debuted in 1978, has undergone significant upgrades while retaining
its classic track layout. Raffi Kaprelyan, park president of Knott's Berry Farm, confirmed that the track remains identical to the original, with precise measurements taken to ensure a like-for-like replacement. The enhancements include new trains, a new motorized launch system, an updated station experience, and refurbished track and supports. Additionally, the ride now features a reimagined story and theming centered around a mysterious forbidden temple and the lost treasure of Montezooma. The original Montezooma's Revenge was the first of its kind and one of only eight flywheel-launched coasters globally, accelerating to over 55 miles per hour in under four seconds and featuring a 76-foot, 360-degree vertical loop.
