What's Happening?
ABS has entered into agreements with South Korean shipbuilding organizations to advance software-defined vessel (SDV) technology and enhance workforce development in the maritime industry. The collaboration involves ABS Consulting and its affiliate ABS Wavesight
supporting HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) in developing its SDV platform. This initiative aims to shift vessel functions from hardware to software, emphasizing software quality assurance and validation. Additionally, ABS signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO), the Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Association (KOSHIPA), and KUSPC to establish a framework for workforce development and regulatory cooperation between the U.S. and South Korean maritime sectors.
