What's Happening?
Cari Goin, a theatre educator with over 20 years of experience, is launching a new program called Emoji Improv in The Dalles, Oregon. The program is designed for children aged 8 to 13 and aims to build confidence through theatre activities such as improvisation,
storytelling, and acting. Goin's initiative is rooted in her belief that theatre can help children find their voice and value, offering a supportive environment for personal growth. The first session of Emoji Improv will begin on June 27, with additional sessions planned throughout the summer.
Why It's Important?
The launch of Emoji Improv highlights the importance of arts education in fostering self-confidence and communication skills among children. By providing access to theatre, Goin is addressing a gap in arts education, particularly in smaller communities. This initiative could inspire similar programs, emphasizing the role of creative arts in child development. Furthermore, Goin's program may encourage community engagement and support for the arts, potentially leading to broader cultural and educational benefits.
