What's Happening?
The Orlando Magic have announced a new partnership with WFTV Channel 9 and WRDQ-TV 27 as their local television broadcast partners for the 2026-27 season. This multi-year agreement with Cox Media Group will make these channels the free, over-the-air home
for Orlando Magic basketball games and related programming. The partnership aims to enhance access for fans across Central Florida, including Orlando, Tampa, and Gainesville, with select games also available in Jacksonville. The collaboration will include live games, replays, pregame and postgame coverage, and original programming.
Why It's Important?
This partnership represents a significant shift in how Orlando Magic games will be broadcast, potentially increasing the team's visibility and accessibility to a broader audience. By choosing free, over-the-air channels, the Magic are making their games more accessible to fans who may not have cable or streaming subscriptions. This move could strengthen the team's fan base and engagement, providing new opportunities for local businesses to connect with a passionate audience. The partnership also reflects a broader trend in sports broadcasting towards more accessible and diverse viewing options.
