What's Happening?
Crowley, a U.S.-owned and -operated maritime, energy, and logistics solutions company, is expanding its workforce development support in Puerto Rico through a partnership with Junior Achievement Americas (JAA). This collaboration aims to introduce over
350 students to careers in maritime, logistics, and supply chain management. Puerto Rico relies heavily on its ports, with approximately 80% of its imports arriving by sea, highlighting the critical need for skilled workers in these sectors. The initiative includes a $40,000 sponsorship from Crowley to implement JAA's workforce-readiness programs in public high schools offering career and technical education. Students will gain hands-on experience through terminal tours, meetings with Crowley employees, and visits to vessels like the ConRo vessel Taino. This partnership builds on Crowley's existing collaboration with Junior Achievement, which has reached around 9,000 students since 2022 and earned Crowley the Junior Achievement of Northeast Florida's Company of the Year award in 2025.
