What's Happening?
AM Best has assigned a Long-Term Issue Credit Rating of 'a-' (Excellent) to Sammons Financial Group, Inc.'s (SFG) $750 million 5.95% senior unsecured notes due in June 2036. The rating outlook is stable. The proceeds from this issuance will be used for
general corporate purposes, including business growth at SFG's insurance subsidiaries, Midland National Life Insurance Company and North American Company for Life and Health Insurance. The issuance will increase SFG's adjusted financial leverage to approximately 22.5% from the previous year's 18.6%. Despite this increase, interest coverage is expected to remain favorable, and SFG maintains sufficient liquidity to service its debt.
Why It's Important?
The assignment of a favorable credit rating by AM Best is significant for Sammons Financial Group as it reflects the company's strong financial position and ability to manage its debt obligations effectively. This rating can enhance investor confidence and potentially lower borrowing costs for SFG. The use of proceeds for business growth indicates a strategic focus on expanding its insurance operations, which could lead to increased market share and profitability. The stable outlook suggests that AM Best expects SFG to maintain its financial strength and operational performance in the foreseeable future.
