A recent study by Somantra has revealed that 70% of specific insurance queries on AI search engines in Australia do not mention any corporate brand. The May 2026 AI Search Visibility Report analyzed 34,278 consumer conversations about 20 Australian insurance brands
across Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT. The study found that when consumers asked detailed questions, such as how to claim pet insurance overseas, seven out of ten AI responses did not name an insurance provider. Arun Prasad, founder of Somantra, highlighted this as a market opportunity for companies to adjust their digital content to be included in AI-generated answers. The research also showed a concentration of visibility among a few market leaders, with three brands accounting for 50% of mentions on ChatGPT.
