What's Happening?
Gaon Cable, a subsidiary of LS Cable & System, has announced that its U.S. subsidiary, LSCUS, will supply busducts valued at approximately $40 million to the artificial intelligence (AI) data center of a global electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer. Busducts
are essential power distribution systems that deliver electricity to individual servers and racks within data centers. This contract marks an expansion of Gaon Cable's customer base, which previously included major tech companies, to now encompass a global EV manufacturer. The company anticipates that its busduct supply volume will exceed $100 million this year, according to Jeong Hyun, CEO of Gaon Cable.
Why It's Important?
This development underscores the growing demand for advanced power distribution solutions in the rapidly expanding AI and EV sectors. As data centers become increasingly integral to technological infrastructure, the need for efficient and reliable power systems like busducts is critical. Gaon Cable's entry into the EV manufacturer's supply chain highlights the intersection of AI and EV industries, both of which are pivotal to future technological advancements. The contract not only strengthens Gaon Cable's market position but also reflects broader trends in electrification and digitalization, which are driving significant investments in infrastructure.
