NBCUniversal Local has launched its 12th annual Clear The Shelters campaign, a month-long initiative aimed at promoting pet adoption and raising funds for animal shelters and rescues. The campaign, which began on August 1, 2026, will run through the end
of August, with a donation initiative continuing until September 15. Last year's campaign resulted in over 160,000 pet adoptions and raised more than $628,000 for participating shelters. This year, the campaign is supported by partners such as Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Greater Good Charities, and WeRescue. The initiative encourages community involvement through donations and adoption events, with participating shelters and rescues across 49 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and Guam.
