What's Happening?
Western Mines Group is making significant progress in its exploration of high-grade nickel at the Mulga Tank Project in Western Australia. Recent drilling results revealed a 116-meter section with 0.5% nickel, including a 38-meter interval at 0.7%, with multiple
intervals exceeding 1%. The presence of large sulphide globules and remobilised sulphides suggests the potential for a larger high-grade nickel system nearby. The company plans to conduct a government-funded seismic survey to map the intrusion in 3D and refine future drill targeting. Western Mines Group aims to grow its nickel resource and target higher-grade sulphide mineralisation.
Why It's Important?
The discovery of high-grade nickel at the Mulga Tank Project is crucial for Western Mines Group as it enhances the company's resource base and positions it for future growth. Nickel is a vital component in the production of stainless steel and batteries, particularly for electric vehicles, making it a strategic resource in the transition to a low-carbon economy. The successful exploration and development of this project could lead to increased investment and job creation in the region, contributing to the local economy and supporting global demand for nickel.
What's Next?
Western Mines Group plans to continue its exploration efforts with resource growth drilling, a resource update, and a first Scoping Study later this year. The company will also focus on further deep targeting to identify additional high-grade nickel deposits. As the project progresses, Western Mines Group may attract interest from investors and potential partners looking to capitalize on the growing demand for nickel in the electric vehicle and renewable energy sectors.
