What's Happening?
Bass Oil is set to resume drilling at the Bunian 6 development well in Indonesia after installing a replacement mud pump. The well, which had reached a depth of 1,012 meters, is expected to be drilled to a total depth of approximately 1,820 meters. Bass Oil operates
the Tangai-Sukananti KSO in South Sumatra with a 55% interest, while its joint venture partner holds the remaining 45%. The Bunian 6 well targets the TRM3 sandstone reservoir and is projected to increase field production significantly.
Why It's Important?
The resumption of drilling at Bunian 6 is crucial for Bass Oil as it aims to boost its production capacity. The expected increase in oil output from 250 to 750 barrels per day could enhance the company's revenue and market position. This development is also significant for the local economy in South Sumatra, potentially providing job opportunities and contributing to regional economic growth. The success of this project could influence future investments and operations in the area.
What's Next?
Bass Oil plans to complete the drilling and bring the well online by late August. The company will monitor the well's performance and adjust its operations based on the results. The drilling expenditure is expected to be fully recoverable under the KSO terms, which could positively impact the company's financials. Stakeholders will be watching the project's progress closely, as it could set a precedent for future oil exploration and production activities in the region.
