What's Happening?
MSI has unveiled the Pro Max OLED 271UPJW12, a 27-inch 4K inkjet-printed OLED monitor. This new monitor offers a 120 Hz refresh rate, up to 1,000 nits peak brightness, and an optimized RGB stripe subpixel layout. The inkjet printing process is cheaper
than traditional methods used by LG and Samsung, potentially leading to more budget-friendly OLED options. The monitor is designed for professionals, offering 99% of the DCI-P3 wide color gamut with exceptional color accuracy.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of inkjet-printed OLED technology by MSI represents a potential shift in the monitor market, offering a third option beyond the duopoly of Samsung and LG. This innovation could lead to more affordable OLED monitors, making high-quality displays accessible to a broader audience. The focus on color precision over speed suggests applications in professional settings, expanding the use cases for OLED technology. As inkjet printing gains traction, consumers may benefit from competitive pricing and enhanced display options.
