What's Happening?
Quazeem Tiamiyu, a student at the University of Maine, has developed an environmentally friendly insulation for beverage coolers using discarded wood. This innovation replaces the conventional polyurethane foam, which is toxic and non-renewable, with
a bio-based foam made from cellulose nanofibrils and wood fiber. The new insulation performs comparably to traditional materials in terms of thermal conductivity. Tiamiyu's project aims to reduce the environmental impact of cooler production by utilizing renewable resources and minimizing the use of hazardous chemicals.
