The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has initiated its first online real estate surplus auction platform, offering approximately 200 property parcels for sale. This digital marketplace includes a variety of land opportunities, from small remnant
tracts to 17-acre development sites. The transition to an online format aims to increase public awareness and accessibility for surplus properties across the state. The current inventory features parcels of varying sizes, wetland mitigated sites, and irregular tracts located in multiple counties. Assistant State Right of Way Administrator Katrina Anderson highlighted that the digital shift allows GDOT to reach a broader audience, providing a convenient and transparent way for potential buyers to access information and participate in the auction process. Auctions opened on August 1, 2026, include properties in Gwinnett and Hall Counties, with more parcels expected to be offered in future auctions.
