What's Happening?
Ondas Inc. has acquired DZYNE Technologies LLC, a defense technology company based in Irvine, California, for $875.8 million. The acquisition, financed through a cash-and-stock structure, aims to bolster Ondas' capabilities in multi-domain intelligence,
surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), counter-uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), precision strike, mission intelligence, and autonomous systems. Eric Brock, chairman and CEO of Ondas, emphasized the importance of deploying autonomous systems at scale in modern warfare. DZYNE, founded in 2012, specializes in the rapid design and deployment of advanced systems, integrating artificial intelligence into long-endurance autonomous aircraft. Ondas expects DZYNE to generate significant revenue, projecting $191 million for 2026 and over $300 million for 2027.
Why It's Important?
This acquisition is significant as it positions Ondas to meet the evolving needs of U.S. and allied defense customers by integrating DZYNE's advanced technologies. The move reflects a broader trend in defense towards autonomous systems, which are increasingly critical in modern military operations. By enhancing its ISR and counter-UAS capabilities, Ondas can offer more comprehensive solutions to defense clients, potentially leading to increased contracts and revenue. The acquisition also strengthens Ondas' market position in the defense sector, allowing it to compete more effectively against other technology providers.
What's Next?
Ondas has established a new division, Ondas Sentinel, to unify its U.S. portfolio of autonomous defense technologies, integrating DZYNE and World View. This division will focus on supporting larger defense programs with a scalable organization. Ryan Hartman, CEO of World View, will lead Ondas Sentinel, while Matt McCue, co-founder and CEO of DZYNE, will serve as chief technology officer. The division aims to leverage common technology roadmaps and AI-enabled mission software to enhance its offerings. This strategic move is expected to facilitate Ondas' participation in more integrated defense programs.
