What's Happening?
Mercedes-Benz Vans has commenced series production of the electric VLE at its Vitoria plant in Spain. This marks the debut of the new Van Architecture, a modular and drivetrain-flexible platform designed to support the brand's entire van portfolio. The
VLE offers up to eight seats and boasts a range exceeding 700 km under the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), featuring 800V technology and ultra-fast charging capabilities. The Vitoria plant has undergone significant investments to accommodate this new production line, which will also continue to produce the V-Class, Vito, and eVito models. The plant has been operating carbon-neutral since 2022, utilizing renewable energy sources. The launch event was attended by Spain's Minister of Industry and Tourism and the President of the Basque Autonomous Community.
