Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) has been asked by USA Track & Field (USATF) to host four significant events for the 2028 U.S. Olympic Trials. These events include the men’s and women’s 10,000-meter runs, the decathlon, and the heptathlon. The proposed
dates for these competitions are May 20-21, 2028, at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the Walnut campus. This request comes as USATF seeks to provide additional recovery time for athletes before the 2028 Olympic Games, as the main Trials in Eugene will have a reduced six-day format, occurring just three weeks prior to the Olympics. Hilmer Lodge Stadium has a rich history in American track and field, having hosted numerous world record-setting performances over more than 60 years, including 21 world records. The venue is considered a pivotal site in the sport's history, alongside the Coliseum and Hayward Field.
