What's Happening?
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved the License Termination Plan (LTP) for the Oyster Creek nuclear plant, marking a significant step towards its redevelopment. Holtec International, responsible for decommissioning the site, plans to transform
it into a new energy hub featuring four SMR-300 small modular reactors. The approval allows for the final phase of decommissioning and site restoration, with more than half of the dismantlement already completed. The redevelopment is expected to create thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of permanent positions, potentially boosting local employment and infrastructure investment.
