What's Happening?
Project Self-Sufficiency is set to offer a series of parenting classes starting in August, targeting fathers and caregivers of young children. The 24/7 Dad program, developed by the National Fatherhood Initiative, will run from August 18 to September
24, focusing on healthy relationships, communication, and co-parenting. Additionally, the ACT Raising Safe Kids Program, designed by the American Psychological Association, will be available online to help parents build positive parenting skills and manage anger. Executive Director Deborah Berry-Toon emphasizes the importance of effective parenting in preventing behavioral issues and violence.
Why It's Important?
These parenting programs address a critical need for support and education among fathers and caregivers, promoting healthier family dynamics and child development. By offering both in-person and online options, Project Self-Sufficiency ensures accessibility for a wider audience. The focus on communication, emotional well-being, and discipline can lead to more positive outcomes for children and families, reducing the risk of behavioral problems. Such initiatives highlight the role of community organizations in providing essential resources and support to families, contributing to overall societal well-being.
