What's Happening?
Torrid, a leading fashion brand for plus size women, has announced the opening of its 2026 Casting Call. This annual event seeks to find new Faces of Torrid, focusing on women who wear sizes 10 to 30. Unlike traditional modeling searches, Torrid's Casting Call emphasizes
personal stories and community impact over professional modeling experience. The initiative aims to celebrate the diversity and confidence of plus size women, offering them a platform to share their stories. The casting process includes digital submissions and in-person events across several U.S. states, including New York, Texas, Tennessee, Washington, and California. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in community-building activities and virtual Q&A sessions with past winners. The winners will receive a $15,000 Torrid wardrobe, $5,000 in cash, and the chance to feature in future Torrid campaigns.
Why It's Important?
The Torrid Casting Call is significant as it addresses the ongoing challenges faced by plus size women in the fashion industry, such as inconsistent sizing and limited representation. By focusing on real women and their stories, Torrid is working to shift the narrative around plus size fashion, promoting inclusivity and diversity. This initiative not only empowers participants but also influences the broader fashion industry to recognize and cater to the needs of plus size consumers. The event highlights the importance of representation and community support, encouraging women to embrace their uniqueness and feel confident in their own skin.
What's Next?
As the casting call progresses, Torrid will host various events to engage participants and the community. Public voting and finalist announcements are expected later in the year, which will further involve the audience in the selection process. The winners will be announced after the application period closes in September 2026. This ongoing engagement is likely to foster a stronger community among participants and supporters, potentially influencing other brands to adopt similar inclusive practices.
