Mary Jo Kindt, a beloved music educator and community member, passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in Sioux Center, Iowa, she dedicated her life to music and education, teaching voice and piano at Appalachian State University and Lenoir-Rhyne
University. Kindt was also a choir director at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, where her contributions enriched the congregation. Beyond her musical endeavors, she was an active participant in book clubs and served on the Board of the Western Watauga Library.
