The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory against Southland Conference (SLC) opponent Nicholls. The match, held at the UTRGV Fieldhouse, saw the Vaqueros win in straight sets with scores of 25-21,
25-20, and 25-22. UTRGV's strong defensive performance limited the Colonels to a .076 hitting percentage. Right side Julianna Bryant led the Vaqueros with 13 kills and a .270 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Martina Franco contributed nine kills, while Ema Petkovic added five kills and a team-high four total blocks. Setter Luanna Emiliano achieved a double-double with 27 assists and 12 digs. Defensive specialist Carmina Tijerina recorded a career-high five aces, doubling her season total, and led the defense with 14 digs. The match marked UTRGV's second consecutive sweep in conference play.
