What's Happening?
Ville Ottavainen has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Seattle Kraken. Last season, Ottavainen played with AHL Coachella Valley, recording three goals, 17 points, and 71 penalty minutes in 53 regular-season games. Although he did not play in the NHL
last season, he registered an assist in one regular-season appearance with Seattle in 2024-25. Ottavainen is expected to start the upcoming season in the minors, providing depth to the Kraken's roster.
Why It's Important?
Ottavainen's signing with the Seattle Kraken is a strategic move to bolster the team's depth and provide options for player development. His experience in the AHL and brief NHL appearance demonstrate his potential to contribute to the Kraken's lineup. The two-way contract allows flexibility for Ottavainen to develop further in the minors while being available for NHL call-ups. This approach aligns with the Kraken's strategy to build a competitive team by nurturing talent and maintaining roster depth.
