Speediance has unveiled its new Strap, a screenless fitness tracker that differentiates itself by continuously estimating core body temperature from the wrist. This technology, developed by Swiss thermal-sensing specialist greenteg, utilizes a CALERA
system combining a skin-temperature sensor with a heat-flux sensor to measure thermal energy leaving the body. An algorithm then processes these signals to calculate an estimated core temperature, offering a non-invasive alternative to traditional methods used in sports and research. The Speediance Strap aims to integrate this core temperature data with training, sleep, stress, and recovery metrics to provide users with a daily readiness view and personalized training advice. While the main activity and recovery data will be available without an additional charge, more advanced AI planning and longer-term analysis will be part of an optional Wellness+ service after the first year. The device was first shown as a prototype at CES and FIBO, and while it has progressed, current pricing and a retail release date have not yet been confirmed.
