What's Happening?
The University of Hawaii Alumni Makers’ Market, held at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, showcased products from UH alumni-owned businesses. The event, attended by Governor Josh Green, featured food, drinks, and retail items from various vendors. This annual
event, now in its fifth year, sold out for the second consecutive year, drawing approximately 500 attendees. Proceeds from the event support students across the UH system, emphasizing the university's role as an economic driver in Hawaii.
Why It's Important?
The event underscores the significant role of the University of Hawaii in fostering local entrepreneurship and economic growth. By supporting alumni businesses, the market not only promotes local products but also strengthens community ties and provides financial support for current students. This initiative highlights the university's impact beyond education, contributing to the state's economic and social fabric.
