DHL Global Forwarding France has announced a partnership with Vela, a company developing wind-powered cargo ships, to offer a sustainable transatlantic shipping option. The partnership aims to provide customers with an environmentally friendly alternative
for transporting goods between France and the United States. Vela's ships, which are under construction, will be 100 percent wind-powered, achieving a 99 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The vessels will feature a sail area of 6,705 square feet, solar panels, and hydrogenators, and are expected to launch service in early 2027.
