Veteran right wing Ilya Mikheyev has signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning, concluding his two-season tenure with the Chicago Blackhawks. Mikheyev, 31, is part of a wave of 30-plus-year-old players leaving the Blackhawks, following the trades of Nick Foligno,
Jason Dickinson, and Connor Murphy last season. Despite general manager Kyle Davidson's hopes to retain Mikheyev at the March 6 trade deadline, the two parties could not reach an agreement. Mikheyev, known for his penalty-kill prowess, will now bring his skills to the Lightning. Last season, he achieved a career-high 36 points, with 18 goals and 18 assists, across 77 games, and was instrumental in the Blackhawks' second-best league penalty kill.
