What's Happening?
LG Energy Solution has entered into an agreement to purchase 8,000 metric tons of lithium carbonate annually for 10 years from the South West Arkansas Project, a partnership between Standard Lithium and Equinor. This marks the second major customer commitment
for the project, following a previous agreement with Trafigura for another 8,000 metric tons per year. The combined commitments total 16,000 metric tons annually, moving the project closer to its financing goals and a Final Investment Decision. U.S. Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) emphasized the significance of this partnership for increasing domestic lithium production and creating high-paying jobs in Arkansas. The project has also received a $225 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and is part of the federal FAST-41 program to expedite permitting.
