What's Happening?
Western Star Resources has commenced its 2026 exploration program at the White Star Tungsten Project in Nevada. The company is conducting a high-resolution unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) magnetic geophysical survey and a systematic soil geochemistry survey.
These efforts aim to define drill targets and develop a district-scale geological model. The White Star Project, acquired in May, is located in the Charleston Mining District and has not been explored since the 1950s. Historical data from the Mission Cross Mine indicates significant tungsten production. The project shares geological characteristics with Western Star's Rowland Tungsten Project, covering over 6km of tungsten-bearing horizons.
Why It's Important?
The use of drone technology in geophysical surveys represents a significant advancement in mineral exploration, offering a cost-effective and efficient method for data collection. Western Star's initiative could lead to the discovery of new tungsten resources, which are critical for various industrial applications, including electronics and aerospace. The exploration could enhance the company's portfolio and contribute to the U.S. supply of tungsten, reducing reliance on imports. Successful exploration and development of the White Star Project could have economic benefits for the region, potentially creating jobs and stimulating local economies.
