OpenAI has announced Project Camellia, a 3.2-gigawatt data center campus located at the Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub in Effingham County, Georgia. The project is part of OpenAI's broader Stargate infrastructure program and involves an initial investment
of at least $20 billion, with full build-out costs expected to exceed $30 billion. The campus will be powered by a 25-year, 3.2-gigawatt power supply agreement with Georgia Power, with electricity delivered in phases between 2028 and 2032. This initiative represents a strategic shift towards self-designed infrastructure to meet the growing demand for AI compute capacity.
