What's Happening?
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded $17.3 million to the University of Maryland to establish a test bed for automated biomanufacturing workflows. The Collaborative for the Realization of Autonomous Biomanufacturing (CRAB) Lab will enable
researchers across the U.S. to program and optimize biomanufacturing processes using AI-enabled laboratories. The lab will provide high-velocity, high-volume measurements to train AI models, enhancing the efficiency and scalability of biomanufacturing. This initiative is part of a broader $400 million NSF investment in programmable cloud laboratory nodes.
