What's Happening?
Milo's Tea Company has opened a new 150,000-square-foot refrigerated distribution center in Birmingham, Alabama. This facility is part of the company's efforts to expand its operational footprint and support beverage distribution. Located near its Bessemer
manufacturing operation, the center is the fourth major facility investment by Milo's since 2020, bringing its domestic manufacturing investment to nearly $400 million. The new center employs about 50 associates and is designed to enhance safety and efficiency for associates, logistics partners, and retail customers. This expansion supports Milo's cold chain requirements and continued growth, adding more than 500 new associates and expanding operational capabilities across its facilities.
Why It's Important?
The opening of the new distribution center underscores the growing importance of cold chain infrastructure for companies dealing with temperature-sensitive products. For Milo's Tea Company, this investment is crucial for maintaining product quality and meeting increasing demand. The expansion also highlights the company's commitment to improving logistics efficiency and service delivery. For the broader trucking and logistics industry, the increased capacity for refrigerated storage and distribution presents new opportunities for dedicated capacity, distribution routes, and cold chain services. This development could influence other companies to invest in similar infrastructure to remain competitive.
