The high-altitude variant of the Comac C919, a narrowbody aircraft, has successfully completed its maiden test flight at Shanghai's Pudong International Airport. The flight lasted nearly two hours and marked a significant milestone in the aircraft's development.
Xizang Airlines, formerly known as Tibet Airlines, is the launch customer for this variant, having ordered 40 units. The high-altitude C919, officially named the C919-600, is designed to operate in challenging environments and is part of Comac's broader strategy to expand its market presence with specialized aircraft models.
