Verogy, a Connecticut-based developer of distributed energy resources, has commenced construction on solar power installations at four municipal landfill sites in Connecticut. These projects are part of the state's Non-Residential Renewable Energy Solutions
(NRES) program, which incentivizes the transformation of closed landfills into clean energy assets. The NRES program offers a 20% bid price preference for projects on capped landfills and brownfields, making these sites attractive for development. Verogy is responsible for the development and construction of these projects, which are located in the towns of Mansfield, Morris, Somers, and Suffield. The initiative aims to generate renewable energy while providing economic benefits such as rental income, increased tax revenues, and job creation for the host towns.
