Atlanta United has signed Uruguayan midfielder Mauricio Amaro from Defensor Sporting Club. Amaro, who will occupy a U-22 Initiative and international roster spot, has been signed through the 2028-29 season with an option for the 2029-30 season. The 21-year-old
midfielder is known for his tackling, ball-winning abilities, and competitiveness. He has made significant contributions to his previous club, including helping them win the 2024 Uruguayan Cup. Amaro has also represented Uruguay's U-20 national team, making five appearances since 2024.
