What's Happening?
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced an extension for Net Metering and Open Access renewable energy projects to source solar PV cells from non-ALMM-listed manufacturers until December 2026. This decision allows these projects to continue
without adhering to the Approved List of Models & Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II, which was initially set to be mandatory from June 1, 2026. The extension aims to ease the transition for manufacturers and protect investments already made in solar PV module manufacturing. The MNRE has also reopened the portal for renewable power project developers to submit exemption applications until July 23, 2026, following requests from stakeholders.
