Antares, a nuclear power startup specializing in small modular reactors, has successfully raised $470 million in a Series C funding round. This financial boost is intended to accelerate the company's efforts to develop reactors for U.S. military bases.
The funding round, led by Paradigm and Caffeinated Capital, comes just seven months after Antares secured $96 million in a Series B round. The company aims to have its Mark-1 reactor operational by 2027, with a goal to meet the deadline set by President Trump's Executive Order 14299, which mandates the Department of Defense to begin operating a reactor at a domestic military installation by September 30, 2028. Antares is also a finalist in a Defense Department initiative to test small modular reactors at Air Force bases in Colorado and Montana.
