What's Happening?
Netflix has released viewership data for WWE's Premium Live Events (PLEs) for the first half of 2026. According to Dave Meltzer's analysis in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Royal Rumble and both nights of WrestleMania 42 were the top-viewed events.
The Royal Rumble achieved 3.1 million views, while WrestleMania's two nights garnered 2.7 million and 3 million views, respectively. These figures represent a modest increase from the previous year, attributed to a 17% rise in the number of homes with access to these events. Meltzer notes that while the increase in Royal Rumble views is not seen as a major success, the growth in WrestleMania's viewership is considered positive, especially given the high-profile main event featuring John Cena and Cody Rhodes.
Why It's Important?
The viewership trends for WWE's PLEs on Netflix highlight the growing international reach and popularity of WWE content. The increase in views, despite being modest, indicates a successful expansion into new markets and a broader audience base. This growth is crucial for WWE's global strategy, as it seeks to capitalize on international markets beyond its traditional U.S. stronghold. The data also underscores the importance of marquee events like WrestleMania in driving viewership and engagement. The involvement of high-profile wrestlers in main events continues to be a significant draw for audiences, reinforcing WWE's strategy of leveraging star power to boost its global appeal.
