PMET Resources, an ASX-listed lithium explorer, has confirmed the feasibility of producing value-added lithium chemicals on-site at its Shaakichiuwaanaan project in Québec. The company conducted a concept study that evaluated various processing options,
ultimately selecting Primero's ALi atmospheric leach process for further study. This process offers economic potential and logistical efficiency, while also minimizing environmental impact. The study indicates that on-site processing could produce battery-grade lithium carbonate with a purity of 99.8%. This development aligns with Canada's goals for domestic processing of critical minerals and could reduce the carbon intensity of the supply chain.
