What's Happening?
Chicago-based progressive power metal band Ion Vein has released 'Beyond Tomorrow 2025,' the second single from their upcoming 'Beyond Tomorrow – 25th Anniversary Edition' album. The album is set to be released on November 20, 2026, via Majesphere Records.
'Beyond Tomorrow' is the title track from their debut album and was chosen for its thematic significance and popularity among fans. Due to the condition of the original master tapes, this track, along with two others, was completely re-recorded by the reunited original lineup. Guitarist Chris Lotesto and singer Russ Klimczak initially planned to remaster the debut album as a surprise for the rest of the band, aiming to release it on vinyl for the first time and include old live recordings. However, the loss of the master tapes necessitated bringing the entire band into the project earlier than planned, turning the surprise into a collective effort. The band collaborated with Jim Morris of Morrisound Studios for the new mix, a producer they had long admired.
Why It's Important?
The release of 'Beyond Tomorrow 2025' and the upcoming anniversary edition signify a significant moment for Ion Vein and their fanbase. It marks the reunion of the original lineup after more than two decades, bringing together the musicians who shaped the band's initial sound. This re-recording effort not only revitalizes their classic material for a new generation but also offers existing fans a refreshed perspective on their debut. The decision to re-record key tracks due to technical issues highlights the challenges bands face in preserving their artistic legacy and the dedication required to overcome such obstacles. Collaborating with a renowned producer like Jim Morris, known for his work with influential metal bands, adds a layer of credibility and sonic quality that can attract broader attention within the metal community. This project underscores the enduring appeal of progressive power metal and the importance of a band's foundational work.

With the release of 'Beyond Tomorrow 2025,' anticipation will build for the full 'Beyond Tomorrow – 25th Anniversary Edition' album, due out on November 20, 2026. Fans can expect further promotional activities, potentially including more singles, music videos, or behind-the-scenes content detailing the re-recording process and the band's reunion. The album's release on vinyl for the first time will appeal to collectors and audiophiles, potentially expanding their reach. The reunited lineup might consider live performances or a tour to support the anniversary edition, offering fans the chance to see the original members perform together again. The success of this anniversary project could also pave the way for new material from Ion Vein, as the collective return to their old songs might reignite their creative collaboration.
